We know change is hard. We know keeping connected is harder. We work tirelessly to bring you the leading software developments, to try and keep things running efficiently.
Lately, we’ve been working on upgrading our user interface. To those unfamiliar with the term, the user interface is the portion of the screen that you, as our user, interacts with. We are working to make the main controls more easily accessible, easier to understand, and more efficient. Here’s what we’ve done:
Subtle control access and a decluttered screen
The main controls and call information will remain at the top of the page. The additional settings, or complex controls, are included in the menu bar on the right side of the screen.
If you stop moving your cursor, after a few moments the menu bar will disappear, allowing for full-screen visibility. This provides ample room for screen and document sharing. Simply move your cursor to regain visibility of the menu bar.
Larger calls, smaller tasks with a new participant list
We have added a new participant list, to allow for easier management of participants on larger scale calls. This feature is notable as it greatly improves the experience for larger calls. It also gives moderators on the call a place to see everyone invited and currently online. Managing mute and raised hand features has never been easier on large volume calls.
The speaker tiles float onscreen to give more space to videos. We have also optimized the tile view to organize itself, and show only the latest active speakers as part of the main screen. The remainder of the tiles can be found in the tile icon that represents the other speakers present, as they form a tile queue offscreen.
Another key feature improvement is the ability to unmute one’s self during a call. All non-speaking participants are muted unless otherwise specified. There is now an option to specify whether you would like to be muted whether you are the primary speaker or not.
For the Future
Having tweaked and optimized our code, as well as our user interface, we are confident that what we’ve modified will be beneficial to your user experience. These changes will also improve the quality of the UI for our mobile application, and pave the way for further enhancements.
We are, of course, always available for troubleshooting and demos, should you feel the need to request a tour around your new virtual office.
