Sometimes when you hang out with parents they will inexplicably bring up their kids and their childish accomplishments unprompted, and this used to annoy me quite a bit as it unnecessarily interrupts the flow of a conversation. But now I understand the feeling, they’re not intentionally trying to divert the discussion, they are simply blinded by the immense proudness as parents and want to express this feeling as frequently as possible.
